Ag-Bag X1114 can pack in 25 percent more Silage

Packing 25 percent more silage in its 14-foot diameter bag than a conventional 12-ft. silage bagger, the Ag-Bag, a Miller-St. Nazianz, Inc. Company, X1114 Professional self-propelled bagger represents the results of two years of development and testing.

"It's the highest capacity, most productive silage bagger in the history of the industry," says Taylor Weisensel, the company's national sales and marketing manager. "It represents the first of the next generation of baggers for forage growers who want high daily production and the ability to store more feed per square foot."

Compared to a 12-ft. bagger, which typically packs forage at the rate of about 2 to 2¼-tons per linear foot on a wet-ton basis, this model can produce densities of as much as 3 tons per linear foot in a bag as long as 500 feet, he reports.
This increased packing density reflects the longer tunnel and the low position of the 11-foot rotor. "This position packs feed from the bottom to the top, resulting in more uniform packing," he explains.

"In our field trials, operators have bagged silage from well over 350+ acres a day, or 5000+ tons stored in average day, depending on field conditions and operator," he adds.
Other enhancements include all-new cab comfort and control upgrades plus improved maneuverability and braking.

The four-wheel drive X1114 is powered by a CAT C-15 580-hp Tier III engine, which offers the latest in fuel efficiency and emissions reductions. The single pass-through cooling system features 6 separate side-by-side coolers, stacked, to cool the engine; air conditioning; and oils for clutch, planetary, and hydraulic system for improved performance.

Fully electronic CAN bus controls provide true fly-by-wire operation, replacing multiple hydraulic levers used to operate the machine with a single joystick for easy maneuvering. The on-board diagnostics include a screen that displays both primary and secondary engine functions, such as engine speed, fuel consumption and engine temperature.
Flipping a switch can change steering from four-wheel coordinated steering to independent front and rear steering for added maneuverability. Another switch selects either four-wheel or two-wheel drive for driving speed control.

The high-idle feature makes it easy to control the speed of operation. "You can push a button to engage the rotor at idle speed to start loading the feed table," Weisensel says. "You then press the mode switch to engage the throttle to 1,800 RPMs for bagging operations. When the feed table is empty, pushing the mode switch off, automatically drops the engine back to idle speed."
To maintain optimum performance, the load-governing feature of the feed table automatically slows the feed table belt down if engine RPMs drop allowing consistent feed compaction to remain.

An additional engineered safety feature is if the operator leaves the cab without shutting the rotor off, it automatically shuts off the feed table belt, allowing the rotor to clear itself of feed before slowing the engine speed to idle and then stopping the rotor all in a matter of seconds.
In addition to such comforts as air-conditioning and heating with an air filtration system and AM/FM/WX radio, the pressurized Ultra Quiet cab comes standard with a suspension seat for the operator and a buddy seat for an instructor or observer.

The 43,000-pound X1114 folds up to a length of 27 feet and a width of under 10 feet for transport. "It's easy to transport," Weisensel says. "You can attach the front end to a pintle hitch and pull the bagger on its two rear wheels. Or, for longer distance, you can haul it on a low-boy trailer."
