Tulare is in the heart of California’s dairy and wine country and World Ag Expo is highlighting those key products with an expanded Wine and Cheese Pavilion.

The Wine and Cheese Pavilion is located at Expo and R Street in the south expansion area, where all Expo seminars are held.

It features local wineries as well as those from other parts of California. A charge of $4 per glass includes tastings of all the wine selections plus samplings of a wide array of cheeses.

The Wine and Cheese Pavilion has proven to be a popular alternative for those looking for a nice relaxing place to unwind at World Ag Expo,” says Patti Watte, Wine and Cheese Pavilion Chairwoman.

More than 60 percent of California’s wine grape production comes from the San Joaquin Valley. For decades these grapes have been utilized for blending by many of the state’s wineries. More recently, proprietary wineries have been established in the valley to market wines with valley appellations.

Several local wineries from these appellations will be sampling their wines at World Ag Expo. Three of the wineries are on the Wednesday winery tour.

In addition, several California wines and one Italian wine will be available by the glass. Budweiser also will be offering tastings of its specialty beers selection.

California is also known for its cheese and Tulare County, being the No. 1 dairy county in the nation, is also a major cheese producing region. A number of local manufactures will have their cheeses available to be sampled.

There is no better place to promote California wine and cheese than at World Ag Expo in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley,” says Watte.
