The biggest Italian participation in an US Digital Event dedicated to agricultural technology
ITA – Italian Trade Agency is the Governmental agency that supports the business development of Italian companies abroad and promotes the attraction of foreign investment in Italy. With a motivated and modern organization and a widespread network of overseas offices, ITA provides information, assistance, consulting, promotion and training to Italian small and medium sized businesses. Through its Houston office, the Italian Trade Agency supports the agricultural machinery sector in the USA.
The Italian Companies at World Ag Expo® Online 2021 are also supported by FederUnacoma, the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Federation that groups the manufacturers of agricultural implements, self-propelled machines, tractors, gardening machinery, engines for agriculture and components for the various sectors represented.
For the last four years the Italian Trade agency has organized national pavilions at the Tulare show, but the Californian show has never seen a cohort of Italian companies like this one. These 41 companies will exhibit a wide range of products from parts and components, to highly specialized harvesting equipment. Despite the high variety of brands and products all the Italian technology share the same characteristics, great quality, incomparable specialization and high level of innovation.
Italian Trade Commissioner in Houston, Mrs. Antonietta Baccanari, is pleased by the interest shown by the Italian companies to the World Ag Expo® 2021 Digital show, and stressed the importance of having a larger presence in the American market.
“The US is a very important market for Italian AG Equipment manufactures and this level of participation highlights this aspect,” said Baccanari. “To date, this is the largest Italian participation in an online digital event of this nature (41 companies). We recognize the particularly difficult nature of these times and are beyond fortunate to still have the opportunity to participate in such a bedrock bridge building event for the agricultural industry. One of the best things we can do to help ag thrive is to allow the wheels of trade and productivity recover and accelerate, as we collectively continue to confront the challenges present in the current global economic atmosphere. Considering Italy’s $403 million impact on the American ag machinery market alone, reaffirming our economic partnership is paramount to helping the overall health of the agriculture industry.”
The show will officially open its marketplace on February 9th and it will stay open for 12 months, allowing all the exhibitors to connect with dealers, farmers and importers during the entire year.

The cooperation of the United States and Italy in the sector of agricultural machinery is strongly supported by the export-import data. In the first 11 months of 2020, the import of American agricultural vehicles to Italy was valued at nearly $49 million. Tractors with an engine power exceeding 130kw made up the largest individual share of trade, and accounted for a gain of 17.23%, compared to the previous year. Directly below in the trade rankings, lawnmowers accounted for over $8 million, and saw an overall increase of 6.27% from 2019.
For “Made in Italy” exports of agricultural machinery, the United States is a core market. Through the first 11 months of 2020, Italian tractor and other agricultural machinery exports arrived at a value of $403 million dollars, a value practically on par with the strong two years that preceded it. The biggest positive movers in the first 11 months of 2020 compared to 2019 were: poultry incubators and brooders (+9,123%), threshing machinery (208%), and lawnmowers (161%). The three largest individual contributors to the $403 million were: sorting machines ($8.8 million), threshing machinery ($3.4 million), and haying machines ($3.2 million). Mechanical components also played a significant role for the Italian exports to the United States.
