E.M. Tharp and Golden State Peterbilt are “Leading the Charge”

Porterville, CA – With California moving forward to implement electric vehicles (EV) and clean energy, E.M. Tharp Inc. / Golden State Peterbilt has jumped into action with Peterbilt’s “Leading the Charge.” Peterbilt offers three electric truck models, the conventional 579 Day Cab, and two Cab Over Engine (COE) options: 520 Heavy Duty and 220 Medium Duty. Attendees at World Ag Expo® in Tulare, CA saw the 579EV and 220EV on display in the E.M. Tharp Inc. / Golden State Peterbilt booth. The EV trucks received lots of attention and were a great opportunity for customers and international attendees to see the EVs up close. A Peterbilt EV factory representative was on hand to answer questions.

E.M. Tharp Inc. / Golden State Peterbilt kept the EVs for a week following World Ag Expo® to host “Employee EV Ride and Drive” and “Customer EV Ride and Drive” events on February 20 and 21, 2023 The two-day event was held at E.M. Tharp Inc. / Golden State Peterbilt headquarters in Porterville, CA, which is centrally located between Golden State Peterbilt Bakersfield and Golden State Peterbilt Fresno. There were morning and afternoon sessions with lunch served each day. The event included presentations from Peterbilt EV Factory Representatives to explain Peterbilt’s electric truck technology. A PACCAR EV Parts Representative presented on infrastructure setup and assistance available. The final presenter was the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District. They covered current programs, grants, and deadlines. Employees appreciated the “EV Ride and Drive” event because it was a great opportunity for the parts, sales, and service departments to have first-hand experience driving and learning more about EV trucks. Customers were grateful for the all-inclusive approach E.M. Tharp Inc. / Golden State Peterbilt created to give their customers information, direction, and resources to take charge of their EV future.

“Hosting the Ride and Drive event following World Ag Expo just made sense,” said Casey Tharp, Vice President / General Manager of E.M. Tharp, Inc. “We were able to provide a great experience for our customers and those interested in learning more about electric trucks.”

At the conclusion of the 2023 World Ag Expo® and the Ride and Drive event, Tharp went on to say, “We are thrilled with the success of having the exposure of EV trucks on display at World Ag Expo and then hosting the Ride and Drive event for our staff and customers. With our facilities in Porterville allowing us to provide the training and driving experience, we hope to continue hosting more of these events in the future.”

After the two-day Ride and Drive Event, Golden State Peterbilt’s staff delivered the EV Peterbilt trucks south to Bakersfield to join the Zero Emission Convoy on Thursday, February 23, where the trucks were amongst various EV transportation vehicles.
